Mr. Haiflich retired from Phelps Dodge after 27 yrs. He had farmed and purchased the Pleasant Inn in Uniondale and the former Fryback Ice cream called Lloyd & Mary's Restaurant in Bluffton. He was a 1930 graduate of Rockcreek (East) High School in Wells County.
