Sis was born in Bluffton, IN on July 18, 1918. She married Herman Franze who passed away July of 1969. A beautician she was a member of the Emanual Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne.

Howard has been married to the former Goldie M. Bertsch since Nov 16, 1941 (Arlington, Virginia). He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1939 and was a mechanical engineer. He was employed with the Dept of the Navy during WW II working with submarines. He later worked in Fort Wayne, IN at the Bowser Corp & Wayne Pump.
