The Department of Veterans' Affairs provides information on memorial benefits, health services, life insurance programs and more.

The Social Security Administration allows funeral homes and survivors to report the death of the loved. The site also provides information on potential benefits that can be claimed by the survivors. Their phone number is 1-800-772-1213.

The National Cemetery Administration (NCA) honors Veterans with a final resting place and lasting memorials that commemorate their service to our nation.

The Wells County Board of Health located at 223 West Washington Street (old library) Bluffton, IN (260) 824-6489. The death certificates are recorded in each county by funeral homes upon where the deceased passed away. Each county provides death certificates to persons needing a certified copy of death. The cost for these are $15.00 each in Wells County (Allen County $13.00). There is no deadline to order these and an order may be placed through us. Veterans are allowed one copy to be used for Veterans purposes only, and are available at no cost.


Wells County Veterans Service Office  located at 223 West Washington Street (old library) Bluffton, IN  (260) 824-6403. Mr. Claude McMillan is presently serving as our veterans service officer. He has hours from 8-1 pm Monday through Thursday . He can assist any veteran or person acquiring information about Veterans' benefits for Veterans or families of Veterans.
