Merrill J. Miller, 65, of Bluffton, died at 8:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn. Mr. Miller was born in Adams County on Dec. 14, 1943, to the late Harold and Mable (Manley) Miller. He married Sally Johnson in Allen County on Dec. 14, 1968; she survives. He was a 1962 graduate of Parkway High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967. He retired from Keeblers in 1997, and also worked for CTS in Berne and Harry Johnson Company. He was a member of the First Reformed Church and American Legion Post 111. Surviving in addition to the wife are a son, Shawn David (Anita) Miller of Berne; a daughter, Suzanna N. Miller of Bluffton; two step-daughters, Patricia D. (John) Whitted of Houston, Ohio, and HolliAyn (Jeff) Brackin of Bluffton; two brothers, Rex E. (Dee) Miller of Willshire, Ohio, and Don (Susie) Miller of Rockford, Ohio; three sisters, Sharon (Jerry) Agler of Tennessee, Rose (Jim) Pierstroff of Rockford, Ohio, and Mary C. (Archie) Hill of Huntertown; and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Calling hours will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Dr. Gene Bell officiating. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery. American Legion Post 111 will conduct military rites. Preferred memorials to the American Cancer Society and the American Legion Veterans Home.
