Mitchel P. Harnish
Licensed Funeral Director/ Owner
A lifelong resident of Wells County, Mitch is the oldest son of Ron and Lee Ann Harnish of Bluffton. He is a 2004 graduate of Norwell High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, while participating in football, basketball, and baseball.
Graduating from Manchester University in 2008, Mitch received a bachelor's degree in Business Management, along with a minor in Non-profit Organization. While at MU, he was a four year letter winner and two year captain of the football team. In 2009 he graduated from Ivy Tech Community College with a degree in Mortuary Science and now is a licensed funeral director and co-owner of Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel. Mitch has been with the funeral home since 2002.
He is a member and past president of the Bluffton Rotary Club and past member of the board of directors for Family Centered Services. He just recently finished two terms as a member of the board of directors for the Wells County Foundation, where he served as board president and member of the grants and scholarship committee.
Mitch and his wife Bre have five children, Austin, Claire, Cooper, Livie, and Koda. They attend Hope Missionary Church in Bluffton where they enjoy serving as youth Sunday school teachers. Mitch and Bre also have a passion for the foster care system, which is how their family came to fall in love with the most recent addition to their family, Koda. In his spare time, Mitch enjoys spending time with his family, coaching his kids’ youth sports teams, being physically active, and simply being involved in the community whenever he can.

Braden Arnold
Licensed Funeral Director
Braden is the son of Dick and Lorrie Arnold. He grew up on a farm in rural Wells County and is the fifth of six children. He is a 2012 graduate of Shiloh Christian School and was very active in both basketball and baseball. Braden graduated with a degree in Mortuary Science from Mid-America College of Funeral Service in 2021 and is a licensed funeral director. He Joined the funeral home staff in April of 2020.
Braden married Lexi Koppelman in July of 2017, and they have two daughters. They attend Hope Missionary Church in Bluffton.
Braden enjoys spending time with his family and friends, camping, and traveling to different national parks. He also enjoys watching Purdue sports, such as basketball and football.
Braden Arnold

Alyssa Thatcher
Office Administrator
Daughter of Chris and Laurie Kruchkow, Alyssa, recently returned to Berne from Wyoming. Originally from Michigan, she graduated from Buchanan High School in 2010, where she was the Vice President of the National Honor Society and competed in Cross Country and Track & Field.
In 2016, Alyssa earned her degree in Mortuary Science from Vincennes University. While living in Wyoming, she completed her funeral service apprenticeship and spent six years working at a small-town funeral home. Alyssa is now preparing to pursue her Indiana Funeral Director license. She has been with the funeral home since February of 2025.
Outside of work, Alyssa enjoys spending time with her four children, Isaiah, Tinsley, Teagan and Bennett, as well as with family and friends. With a deep passion for helping others through some of life’s most difficult moments, Alyssa is honored to be a part of the caring and compassionate team at our funeral home.

Tony Terhune
Support Staff
Tony joined the funeral home staff in the summer of 2015. He assists with funerals and visitations, while also looking after the facility and maintaining the vehicles.
A lifelong Bluffton resident, Tony worked 36 years in the electronics industry for various military defense contractors, retiring in 2014. He and his wife Jill have two children, Megan (Isaac) Stoller and Matt (Melissa) Terhune, along with two grandchildren and one on the way. Tony and Jill attend Hope Missionary Church in Bluffton.
In his spare time, Tony enjoys restoring antique lighting and furniture along with spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Douglas L. Cale
Retired Licensed Funeral Director
Born in Blackford County to Joe and Sue (Armstrong) Cale, Doug's family moved to Wells County in 1970. He is a 1987 graduate of Bluffton High School and a 1992 graduate of Mid-America College of Mortuary Science.
Following graduation of mortuary school, Doug served his apprenticeship with Klaehn - Fahl, & Melton Funeral Homes in Fort Wayne and obtained his Funeral Director's License in Spring of 1993. Doug then joined the Goodwin staff in the fall of 1995.
Doug married Shannan J. (Shoemaker) on Dec. 8, 1990. He was elected coroner of Wells County for two consecutive terms, from 2001 through 2008 and then served the next two terms as Deputy Coroner from 2009 until 2016.
Doug is a member of the Indiana Funeral Director's Association, Bluffton Optimist's Club, Indiana State Coroner's Association, PI SIGMA ETA National Mortician's Fraternity, & Michigan Snowmobile Association. Doug formally served 6 years as the Vice President of the Wells County Health Advisory Board.
After 30 years of service to the Bluffton community, Doug retired in June of 2025.
Douglas L. Cale
Retired Licensed Funeral Director
Born in Blackford County to Joe and Sue (Armstrong) Cale, Doug's family moved to Wells County in 1970. He is a 1987 graduate of Bluffton High School and a 1992 graduate of Mid-America College of Mortuary Science.

David L. Goodwin
Retired Licensed Funeral Director
Born in Bluffton to Carl and Melba (Moore) Goodwin, Dave is a 1969 graduate of Bluffton High School and a 1980 graduate of Mid-American College of Mortuary Science.
On November 15, 1980, Dave married Shirley (Burnell) and they have three children together, Nicole Morgan of Bluffton, Cassie Goodwin of Bluffton, and Aaron Goodwin, who is resides in West Palm Beach, FL. Along with their three children, Dave and Shirley have six grandchildren; Jackson, Pierceton, Alannah, Madeliene, Tinnley & Brier.
Dave is an activemember of the First Reformed Church of Bluffton, where he has served as Deacon, Elder, and Treasurer of the Trustees. Currently. he serves on the board of directors of Bi-County Services and is active in the administration of the Bluffton T-Ball League. He is a past member of the Bluffton Park Board and 19 year member of the Bluffton Volunteer Fire Dept.He holds memberships in the Bluffton Lodge # 145of F. & A.M.,Indiana Funeral Director's Association, Indiana Independent Funeral Director's Association, and is also a charter member of the Funeral Ethics Association.
He has served as the Wells County Coroner for eight years and Deputy Coroner for another eight years. In his spare time, Dave enjoys fishing and wood working.
After40 years of service to the Bluffton community, Dave retired in December of 2016.
