William R. Clanin, 84, of Bluffton, died at 1:05 p.m. Friday at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.Mr. Clanin was born Nov. 22, 1925, at Bluffton, to Russell Clanin and Mary Brown Clanin. He married Norma Jean Wamsley Oct. 11, 1952, in Huntington. His wife died Feb. 23, 1987. Survivors include a son, Kent (Penny) Clanin of DeRay Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Kim (Hugh) Crouse of Bluffton; a brother, Gene (Joan) Clanin of Bluffton; and five sisters, Helen (Frank) Adams of Texas, Janet (Robert) Pinkerton of Arkansas, and Joyce Clanin, LaLonnie (John) Hacha, and Nancy Bailey, all of Bluffton. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Smeltzer; two brothers, Charles Clanin and William Clanin; and four sisters, Virgie Kilgore, Mary Wolfe, Delores Cutter, and Mildred Grimm. Calling will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Six Mile Cemetery.
