Warren E. "Jim" Tappy, 85, of Keystone, died at 12:36 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Heritage Pointe in Warren. He was born in Montpelier on Feb. 10, 1927, to Robert F. and Violet (Rains) Tappy. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1945. He retired from Franklin Electric in Bluffton after more than 50 years of service. He was also a lifelong farmer in Wells County. He was a member of the American Legion Post 468 in Berne, and enjoyed fishing and card playing. Surviving relatives include one daughter, Sheron Kay of Elkhart; three grandchildren, Angela Brandon of Nottawa, Mich., Tim Brandon of Longmont, Colo., and Adam Brandon of Sturgis, Mich.; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert G. Tappy; and one sister, Betty Strain. Calling hours will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at Heritage Pointe Chapel, 801 Huntington Avenue, Warren. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the chapel with Gerald Moreland officiating. The American Legion Post 468 of Berne will conduct military rites.
