Warren E. "Skip" Berkey, 71, of Uniondale, died at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at his residence. Mr. Berkey was born in Milford on Feb. 21, 1939, to Milton and Viola (Wenger) Berkey. He married April Sweetapple in Fort Wayne on May 10, 1974; she survives. Mr. Berkey retired from General Electric in Fort Wayne in 1996 after 32 years service. He was a member of Life Community Church in Bluffton, Eagles Lodge in Decatur and the Moose Lodge in Huntington. He enjoyed fishing and camping, and loved the outdoors. He also worked as a disc jockey for Country and Rock Disc Spinners. Other surviving relatives include three sons, Terry Berkey of Bluffton, Larry Berkey of Huntington and William (Shannon) Berkey of Ossian; two daughters, Viola Perry of Calvert City, Ky. and Dorothy Van Dyk of Tampa, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 16, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel, 3220E Ind. 124, Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at the funeral home with Kent Ringger officiating. Burial is at Laketon Cemetery, in Laketon, with a graveside service at 1 p.m. Saturday. Preferred memorials are to the Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Berne.
