Waneta Marie Koons, 86, a resident of River Terrace Estates, died at 1:05 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009, at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Koons was a former employee of the Dietary Department at Wells Community Hospital, and was a homemaker. She was a 1941 graduate of Bluffton High School. She was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Wells County, to James Earl Kean and Mary Fay Aker Kean. She married Aaron G. Koons Sr. in Wells County; her husband preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, J. Michael Brown of Chicago and Larry W. (Suanna) Brown of Selma, Ind.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Evelyn Marckres of Bluffton and Jeanie Speheger of Angola. Calling will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Cindy Osgood officiating. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Knights Templar Eye Foundation.
