Obituary

Walter "Junior" Neuenschwander, 76, passed away Wednesday morning, December 2, 2020, at Dupont Hospital in Ft. Wayne.

Walt, affectionately known as Junior by family and friends, and was born in Decatur, IN. on March 14, 1944, to Walter W. and Edna (Schaefer) Neuenschwander. He married Joyce (Schoeff) in Bluffton on February 9, 1964, she survives in Bluffton.

He was a 1962 graduate of Bluffton High School and a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. He was a dairy farmer for twenty two years, sold dairy equipment for Ruttenberg Surge and retired from Edy's Grand Ice Cream after twenty one years. He was awarded the Outstanding Young Farmer award twice and received Edy's "I Made A Difference" Hall of Fame Award. After retirement, he worked at J&R Products for several years.

Besides spending time with family and friends, Junior enjoyed his grandchildren's music and sporting events, traveling, golfing with his friends and spending his winters in Florida.

In addition to his wife, Junior is survived by three daughters; Karen (Jeff) Isch and Kathy (Scott) Steffen of Bluffton, and Kristi (Brian) Curry of Uniondale, nine grandchildren; Kevin (Frederique) Isch, Jason (Jessica) Isch, Kyle (Lindsey) Isch, Landon Curry, Lacy (Nik) Rhodes, Caleb (Sarah) Berstch, Emily (Jordan) Arnold, Noah Steffen and Skylar Steffen, three great grandchildren with one on the way, and two sisters; Marilyn Gerber and Carolyn (John) Meyer, both of Bluffton.

Aside from his parents, Walt was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Erika Bertsch.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020, at 2:00 P.M., at the Bluffton North Apostolic Christian Church, with visitation from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the church. Steve Ringger and Doyle Frauhiger will officiate.  Burial will follow at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Adams County.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and health restrictions in our community, masks are required at the visitation and funeral service.  We appreciate your cooperation.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton or Gateway Woods.
