Viola E. Ringger, 103, of Bluffton, passed away at 8:07 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne. Born on June 2, 1909 in Wells County to Samuel and Nettie (Neuenschwander) Gerber, she married Ray R. Ringger on April 12, 1936 in Bluffton; he died Oct. 5, 2003. She was a homemaker and also was previously the bookkeeper for Ringger Soft Water. A member of the Apostolic Christian Church, she loved her Lord and her family. She enjoyed making children's blankets, quilting, reading and doing crossword puzzles. Survivors include four sons, David L. (Maxine) Ringger of Bluffton, Gary K. (Rosetta) Ringger of Decatur, Tim R. (Marlene) Ringger of Bluffton, and Alan G. (Sheryl) Ringger of Bluffton; two daughters, Jan M. (Bob) Sutter of Berne and Judy M. (Hubert) Isch of Bluffton; a brother, Art Gerber of Berne; a sister, Sylvia Frauhiger of Bluffton; 25 grandchildren; 101 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Ervin, Herman, Walter, Ralph O., Cliff, Glen and Kenneth Gerber; and three sisters, Naomi Ringger, Frieda Steffen and Tillie Kaehr. Services will be held Wednesday, April 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church East with Steve Ringger and Mark Gerber officiating. Calling hours are Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Goodwin - Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel, and Wednesday for one hour prior to the services at the church. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Viola's grandson, Jonathan (Lisa) Ringger, who is serving in Southeast Asia.
