Vernon Lee Geisel, 81, of Keystone, died at 4 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Mr. Geisel was born on Jan. 4, 1930, in Adams County, to Adolph and Rosa (Rauch) Geisel. He married Luella Schwartz on Aug. 3, 1958, in the Bluffton residence of Samuel Aeschliman; she survives. Mr. Geisel was a dairy farmer, primarily in Wells County, for all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic from 1954 to 1956. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Other surviving relatives include three sons, Tim (Donna) Geisel of Bluffton, Jeff (Denise) Geisel of Geneva and Tadd (Heidi) Geisel of Berne; one daughter, Shauna (Rod) Roesler of Vincennes; one sister, Delores Maller of Bluffton; and eight grandchildren and three step-grandsons. Mr. Geisel was preceded in death by three brothers, Olen, Everette and Harold Geisel; and four sisters, Helen Harris, Gladys Geisel, Lorene Geisel and Mildred Baumgartner. Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton and from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Apostolic Christian Church East. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church with Ed Schwartz and Lynn Fiechter officiating. Burial is at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery. The American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton and the U.S. Army Honor Guard will be assisting with burial rites at the cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Christian Care Retirement Community or Swiss Village Retirement Community.
