Valera E. Liby, 99, of Bluffton, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 1, 2020, at Hospice Home in Ft. Wayne, IN.

Valera was born on July 7, 1920, to Floyd H. and Nellie I. (Spade) Mock, both parents preceded her in death. She married Ralph D. Liby on Sept. 5, 1938, in Markle, IN., he preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 2000.

She was a graduate of Bluffton High School class of 1938. Valera was a homemaker, worked at the Snug Restaurant in Bluffton and was a bookkeeper for Liby Plumbing for many years. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren since 1938. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years.

She is survived by a son; Thomas A. Liby of Bluffton, one sister; Jayne Martin of Branson, MO., a son-in-law; Dennis Houtz of Claremore, OK, one grandson; Alexander (Amanda) Liby of Carmel, IN, two granddaughters; Angela (Steve) Dial of Ossian and Andrea (Greg) Bowers of Ft. Wayne., five grt. grandchildren and four grt. grt. grandchildren and one grt. grt. due in October 2020.

Valera was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a daughter; Carolyn Houtz in 1970, one sister; Lois Shaw in 2015.

She enjoyed baking, was known for her sugar cookies, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and cooking Sunday dinners for her family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2020,  at 10:30 A.M. at the Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren, 4504 W. 300 N. Decatur, IN., one hour of visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday prior to the service. Pastor Jay Carter will officiate services.

Burial will follow in the Pleasant Dale Cemetery.
