Truman Baumgartner, 88, of Bluffton, passed away Thursday morning, May 14, 2015, at 5:15 A.M., at River Terrace Estates in Bluffton. Born in Adams County, IN, on July 22, 1926, to John B. and Mary (Gehring) Baumgartner, Truman married Marjorie Getz in Peoria, IL, on Dec. 17, 1950; she survives. A 1944 graduate of Kirkland High School, Truman was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. He was the founder and co-owner of Energy Control in Ossian. Aside from his wife, Truman is survived by five daughters, Cynthia (Phil) Hoover of Bluffton, Joan Brown of Ft. Wayne, Anne (Mike) Cayot of Bluffton, Lois Baumgartner of Morton, IL, and Ruth (Todd) Jones of Ft. Wayne; one son, John (Tammy) Baumgartner of Ossian, along with five grandsons and three granddaughters. He is also survived by three brothers, Howard (Joyce) Baumgartner of Bluffton, Galen (Joyce) Baumgartner of Bluffton, and Gene (Elaine) Baumgartner of Syracuse; and four sisters, Lillian (Kent) Sprunger of Berne, Helen Woodard of Bluffton, Anna (Don) Lloyd of Georgia, Lois (Lloyd) Tackwell of Ft. Wayne. Truman was preceded in death by his parents, along with three sisters, Carolyn Yergler, JoAnn Harter, and Delores Shady. Visitation will be Sunday, May 17, 2015, from noon until 7:00 P.M., at Goodwin - Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Services will be held Monday morning, at 10:00 A.M., at the Bluffton North Apostolic Christian Church, with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. John Baumgartner and Nile Bucher will be officiating the service. Burial will be at Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Preferred memorials may be given to the Apostolic Christian Home for the Handicapped in Morton, IL, or Family LifeCare (hospice organization) of Berne, IN.
