Obituary

G. Thomas Miller, 85, of Bluffton, formerly a long-time Winchester, IN resident, passed away Friday evening, Oct. 28, 2016, at River Terrace Retirement Community.

Tom was born July 27, 1931 in Greensburg, PA, to C. Homer and Ruth (Holtzer) Miller.  He married Martha "Marty" Abel, from Winchester, Indiana,  in Winchester, VA, on Feb. 14, 1955.  They lived in the Greensburg, PA area until moving to the Winchester, IN area in October 1963.   Marty preceded Tom in death on May 28, 2008.

A 1949 graduate of Greensburg High School in Pennsylvania, Tom served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, from 1951 until 1953.  He worked in the glass mold industry for Ball Corp., Muncie, IN,  for many years, until his retirement.  In addition to his regular job at Ball Corp., he also was a farmer in Randolph County, and enjoyed golfing, fishing, and camping with friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Tonya (Ken) Comfort,  Milwaukie, OR, and Beverly (Mike) Wickham, Marion; two sons, Bruce (Terri) Miller and Charles "Chuck" Miller, both of Bluffton; plus seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Tim (Kristen) Miller,  Fishers with their four daughters, Claire, Elise, Greta, and Paige; Jeff (Julayne) Miller, Ossian with their two sons, Luke and Fritz; Doug (Nikki) Miller, Ft. Wayne with their daughter, Lynae; Aubrie Wickham of Marion; Chelsie Wickham of Tulsa, OK; Katie Comfort of Milwaukie, OR; and Emily Miller of Ft. Wayne.

Additional survivors include four sisters, Dorothy Hart and Helen "Toots" Miller, both of Jeannette, PA, Donna (Merle) Mull of Greensburg, PA, and Phyllis Frye of Slickville, PA; two brothers, Jim (Donna Lee) Miller of Lakeland, FL, and Karl Miller of Muskogee, OK; plus a sister-in-law, (Bob's widow), Shirley Miller of Greensburg, PA.

In addition to his parents and wife, Tom was preceded in death by three brothers, Homer, Bob, and Dale Miller; and a sister, Alice Pore.

Visitation in Bluffton, IN,  will be Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, from 8:30 AM until 11 AM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel with a funeral service there at 11 AM,   immediately following visitation, with  Tom's son-in-law,  Pastor Ken Comfort officiating the funeral service.

A private family burial will follow at the Buena Vista Cemetery in Randolph County,  prior to the Randolph Co visitation described below.

Visitation  in Randolph County, IN,  will be  Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016,  from 4:00 PM until  5:30 PM,  in the fellowship center of the Buena Vista Church,  5434 W 300 S, Farmland, IN  47340.

Visitation in Greensburg, PA will be Sunday Nov. 13, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, in the social hall of the Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, Baltzer Meyer Pike, Greensburg, PA,  with  Tom's nephew,  Pastor Glenn Hart,  leading an informal time of reflection and remembering with family and friends at 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of gifted items or floral tributes, the family requests  memorial contributions be mailed to FCS or Family Centered Services, Inc.,   1515 Sutton Circle Dr., Bluffton, IN 46714, with "Capital Campaign, in memory of Tom Miller"  on the memo line.  Provision will also be provided for such donations to be received at each visitation.  FCS is the Bluffton-based social service agency  where Tom's  daughter-in-law, Terri,  works.  This agency is in the process of raising funds for a recent relocation.
