Thomas W. Spencer, 90, of Bluffton, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation.
He was born May 6, 1926, in Cannelton to Charles G and Hattie Mae Jackson Spencer. He married Lillian E. Ray in Fort Wayne Aug. 25, 1961; she survives.
He was a meat cutter at Scott's and Kroger stores in Bluffton and Fort Wayne and retired in 2014 as meat manager. He was a member of the Bluffton Church of the
Nazarene and served in the Army during World War II. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading his Bible, and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include two daughters, Denise (Steve) Farran of Bluffton and Sue (Jim) Ryder of Bluffton; a sister, Bonnie Criss of Hawesville, Ky.; a brother, Clay
Spencer of Louisville, Ky.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Spencer; a granddaughter; brothers, Ray and Russell Spencer; and sisters, Eva Mae Spencer, Mary Spraker and Louise
Vandgrift.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel wth Pastor Tim Miller officiating.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 7, at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until the service Saturday.
Burial is at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
Memorials may be made to Grover Sheets American Legion Post 111 in Bluffton.
