Fred "Ted" Kaehr, 96, of Bluffton, passed away at 4:20 p.m. Aug. 4, 2014, at Christian Care Retirement Community. Ted was born March 7, 1918, in Adams County to Jacob and Fannie Reinhart Kaehr. He married Naomi Maller in Wells County Oct. 21, 1945; she preceded him in death July 9, 2006. He had been a dairy farmer and did excavating, mechanic work and welding. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Survivors include three daughters, Jane (Doyle) Frauhiger of Bluffton, Marie (Chuck) Frauhiger of Bluffton, and Irene (Steve) Frauhiger of Bluffton; two sons, Lyle (Connie) Kaehr of Decatur and Myron Kaehr of Bluffton; 20 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. The last of his family, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Ezra Kaehr, and six sisters, Alice Kaehr, Aldine Moser, Frances Kaehr, Lillian Bertsch, Sylvia Gerber and Mabel Kipfer. He was also preceded in death by one grandchild, one great-grandchild, and one great-great-grandchild. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Apostolic Christian Church East with John Reinhard and Mark Gerber officiating. Calling hours are from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at the Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.
