Shirley I. Rush, 67, of Bluffton, died at 11:08 a.m., Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at her residence. Mrs. Rush was born Oct. 4, 1942, in Richmond, to Samuel and Mary (Grubbs) Wilson. She married Joseph M. Rush in Jonesville, Va., on Oct. 17, 1964; her husband preceded her in death Nov. 8, 1996. A graduate of Bluffton High School, Mrs. Rush worked as a licensed practical nurse at Meadowvale Care Center and was also a real estate agent for Frantz and Associates. She attended Grace Baptist Church. Surviving relatives include a daughter, Kathy (Hank) Koby of Bluffton; two sisters, Margaret Scales of Richmond and Mary Lou Elliot of Goshen; and two grandchildren, Joseph and Alexandria Koby. Mrs. Rush was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Miller, and a brother, James Wilson. Calling hours will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and from noon until 2 p.m. Monday at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Douglas McClure officiating. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery, in Bluffton. Preferred memorials are to Family Hospice and Palliative Care.
