Sarah L. Gunner, 83, of Bluffton, passed away Wednesday morning, February 19, 2014, at her residence, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on December 16, 1930, in Chilton, TX, to Charles W. and E. Kathleen (Berlet) Salmon, Sarah married Ralph E. Gunner on April 5, 1952 in Great Falls, MT; he preceded her in death on December 11, 2013. A 1949 graduate of Lamar High School in Houston, TX, Mrs. Gunner later graduated from Massey Business College in 1951. Along with being a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother, Sarah spent her entire life faithfully serving her Lord, her family, her church, and her community. She was also a homemaker and a member of the First Church of Christ in Bluffton. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Jane (Joseph) Becker of West Mansfield, OH, and Susan Elizabeth (Dennis) Wood of Bluffton, IN; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, George W. (Linda) Salmon of Houston, TX; and one sister, M. Elizabeth Kunz of Houston, TX. Aside from her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah Ann Gunner; one grandson; and a brother, Charles W. Salmon Jr. Visitation will be Friday, February 21, 2014, from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M., at Goodwin - Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Services will be held Saturday, February 22, at the First Church of Christ in Bluffton, at 11:00 A.M., with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Officiating the funeral service will be Larry Sprinkle and Joseph Becker. Burial will take place at Edwards Grove Cemetery in Greenwich, OH, at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Church of Christ.
