Ruth Jean Smith, age 81, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021, at her residence in Bluffton,

following an extended illness.

Ruth was born on Sept. 25,1940 in Bluffton, Ohio, to Herbert C. Reeder and Viva O. (Frost), both parents preceded her in death.

She was a 1958 graduate of Columbus Grove High School. Ruth worked at the Nowak's Progress Store,  G.C. Murphy and Lowes Home Improvement store in Bluffton. She retired from Kroger in 2018 following several years of service at the Bluffton Store. She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, dancing and listening to country music.

Ruth is survived by 3 daughters; Kathy (Michael Yancey) Miller of Bluffton, Charlotte Hooker and Rita (Michael) Davis, both of Lima, Ohio, four grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and a sister in law; Joan Reeder of Lima, Ohio.  She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters; Mona Cox, Mary Jane Radabaugh, Jean Ann Matson and Nancy Young, two brothers; John Reeder and William Reeder, a son in law; Michael Hooker.

Receiving of friends will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, immediately following the visitation.

Burial will take place at the Truro Cemetery in Columbus Grove, Ohio.
