Ruth Maxine McFarren, 90, formerly of Bluffton, died at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Heritage Pointe in Warren. Mrs. McFarren was born in Grant County to Allen and Edith (Hall) Eltzroth. She married Enis E. McFarren in Grant County on April 1, 1939; she preceded him in death on July 12, 1995. Mrs. McFarren was a homemaker. Surviving relatives include one son, Stephen (Lois Jean) McFarren of Moorehaven, Fla.; two daughters-in-law, Becky McFarren of Bluffton and Udella McFarren of Tuscon, AZ; two sisters, Thelma (John) Brubaker of Bluffton and Doris Eckard of Warren; one brother, Richard Eltzroth of Lagro; and one grandchild. Mrs. McFarren was also preceded in death by the parents and husband are two sons, Glenn and Robert McFarren, Brothers, Robert, Ernest, Howard, Charles and Loren "Bud" Eltzroth and Sister Janet Vaught Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, and from 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home with Tom Bradley officiating. Burial is at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion. Preferred memorials are to Heritage Pointe and Family Hospice and Palliative Care.
