Former Ossian resident Ruth M. Burris, 90, died at 8:58 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2010, at Covington Manor Nursing Home in Fort Wayne. She was born Aug. 24, 1919 to Clarence and Margaret Miller Kummer. She married John Burris Nov. 21, 1936 in Huntington. He preceded her in death July 15, 1990. She is survived by two sons, Robert (Carolyn) Burris, New Haven, and Thomas (Cheryl) Burris, Waterloo; two sister, Sally Scott, Reno, Nev., and Phyllis Conner, Zephyrhills, Fla.; two brothers, Carl Kummer of Zephyrhills, and Richard "Dick" Kummer of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Kent Burris, and her brother, Judd Kummer. Calling hours at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, Waynedale, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 2. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Goodwin Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
