Roy "Rex" Franklin, 86, of rural Ossian, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016, at a home in Ossian.
He was born March 30, 1930, in Cordell, Okla. He was a graduate of Tuttle (Okla.) High School and was a retired asphalt plant manager. He also worked as a truck mechanic for International Harvester and was a Primitive Baptist minister. He loved to read, golf and fish. He was a member of the Lewiston, Mich. Lions Club.
He is survived by three sons, Arthur W. Franklin and Roy L. (Nancy Eby) Franklin, both of Davenport, Iowa, and Gregory P. (Lisa) Franklin of Leeville, Iowa; a daughter, Diana K. (Randy) Buuck of Ossian; two brothers, Lee Franklin and David Franklin, both of Oklahoma; two sisters, Shirley Thompson and Letha Page, both of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy H. and Ester Kern Franklin. A private, family service will be held at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Burial will be at a later date. There will be no visitation.
