Rosina E. Baumgartner, 96, of Bluffton, passed away Sunday afternoon, Feb. 19, 2017, at Christian Care Retirement Community.

Rosina was born in Adams County on Jan. 7, 1921, to Cornelious and Fannie (Fiechter) Baumgartner.

She attended Kirkland High School in Adams County and later graduated from the Elgin Watchmaker School in Elgin, IL.  She then opened a jewelry store in Syracuse, IN, which operated for many years.  Rosina then moved to Chicago and opened a new jewelry store in Park Forest, IL, which she owned and operated for about another twenty years.  Later in life she went to work downtown Chicago as a gemologist, until her retirement.

Survivors include two sisters, June (Harold) Lehman of Wolcott and Violet (Harold) Meyer of Bluffton; a brother, Herman (Mary) Baumgartner of Bluffton; along with 29 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rosina was preceded in death by four brothers, Milo, Walter, Chet, and Wayne Baumgartner; four sisters, Alice Geisel, Frieda Steiner, Nova Steffen, and Eileen Furrer; and three nephews.

Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton.  Services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 2:00 PM, at the funeral home, with Lynn Fiechter and John Lehman officiating.  Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
