Ronnie K. Weaver, 65, Bluffton, died at 12:20 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Bluffton Regional Medical Center following a long illness. Born in Bluffton on June 19, 1945 to Oren "Sam" and Velda M. (Day) Weaver, he married Sue A. Barnes on March 29, 1975 in Decatur; she survives. Mr. Weaver was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed by the city of Bluffton for 20 years, spending 17 years as Animal Control Officer. He was a member of the American Legion Post 111 and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, horseback riding and camping. Other survivors include a son, Daryl G. (and companion Tracy) of Van Buren; two daughters, Ronda (James) Wilson and Tina Bennett, both of Bluffton; a son-in-law, Shane Bennett of Bluffton; a sister, Barbara Wolf of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren, Austin, Jeffery Jr., Makayla, Alyssa, Kirsten, Adrian, Seth, Alexis, and Lacie; one greatgranddaughter, Emily; and Tracy's children, Katie and Jonathon. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Weaver Sr.; a sister, Beverly Barnes; and a brother, Gerald Weaver. Services will be held Wed. at 10:30 a.m. at Goodwin Memorial Chapel with Pastor Doug McClure officiating. American Legion Post 111 will assist with funeral rites. Calling hours at Goodwin Memorial Chapel are Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Wed. for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at Six Mile Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the family.
