Ronald G. Hatch, 81, of Bluffton, died at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Mr. Hatch was born in Redkey on March 22, 1929, to Orville and Waneta (Wolfe) Hatch. He married Eileen Onweller in Bluffton on July 26, 1958; she survives. A 1947 graduate of Dunkirk High School, Mr. Hatch served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War in 1951 and 1952. He started his career at Franklin Electric, and then retired as a design engineer at Gencorp in Wabash and Kitco in Bluffton. He attended the United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time outdoors, including fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed genealogy. Other surviving relatives include one son, David (fiance Lena) Hatch along with her two daughters, Katie and Theresa; one daughter, Cheryl Biberstein; and one grandson, Josh Biberstein. Mr. Hatch was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Myles Hatch. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, and from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Tom Bradley officiating. Burial is at Stahl Cemetery. American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton will assist with graveside rites. Preferred memorials are to American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton.
