Roger O. Walburn, 93, of Bluffton, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 16, 2017, at River Terrace Retirement Community, with his family by his side.

Born in Wells County on Nov. 13, 1924, to Ralph D. and Chella Lockwood Walburn, Roger married Marcia P. Gordon on June 20, 1948 in Rockford, IN; she preceded him in death on Oct. 6, 2017, after 69 years of marriage.

Roger graduated from Bluffton High School in 1942 and was a lifelong farmer and dairy farmer in Wells County.  He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Bluffton and a longtime member of the Liberty Center Lions Club.

Roger's hobbies included involvement in bowling, horseshoe pitching, and golf leagues.  He especially enjoyed attending numerous sporting events for all his grandchildren.

Survivors include five daughters, Cynthia (Ken) Hickey of Burton, MI, Rosemary (Ned) Risser of Bluffton, Sandy (Cliff) Biberstine of Bluffton, Tammy (Bryan) Smith of Bluffton, and Deb (Kit) Reineck of Liberty Center; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald (Rochelle) Walburn of Bluffton.

In addition to his wife and parents, Roger was preceded in death by a son, Larry Walburn; a brother, Robert Walburn; and two grandsons.

Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, from 12:00 until 6:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton.  Services will be held on Monday, Nov. 20th, at 10:30 AM, at the funeral home, with one hour of visitation prior to the service.  Dr. Bryson E. Bell will officiate.  Burial will follow at Six Mile Cemetery in Bluffton.

Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Wells, Bluffton, or Norwell athletic departments.
