Robert J. "Bobby" Bennett, Jr., 64, rural Uniondale, passed away at 6:01 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born in Circleville, Ohio, on July 14, 1950, to Robert J. and Kathryn (Tominson) Bennett, Sr. and graduated from high school in Xenia, Ohio. He worked at Strick Corp. in Monroe for 30 years as a welder. He was a member of Life Church and American Legion Post 111. Survivors include his fiancé, Jane Bennett of Uniondale; a daughter, Amber N. (Tracy) Purdy of Bluffton; a son, Robert J. (April) Bennett III of Ossian; six grandchildren, Bailey Purdy, Quinton Purdy, Hayden Purdy, Issac Bennett, Zachariah Bennett and Elizabeth Bennett; four brothers, Harry A. (Connie) Bennett of Fort Wayne, Tony L. (Pamela) Bennett of Uniondale, Darryl (Sherri) Ward of Ohio, and Dale Bennett of Ohio; and three sisters, Mary (Mac) Toliver of Bluffton, Sally (James) Brown of Uniondale, and Charlotte Rex of Tucson, Ariz . Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Craig Cortright officiating, at the Goodwin-Cale and Harnish Memorial Chapel. Calling hours are Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Burial will be at the Six Mile Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the family.
