Robert J. Elliott, 86, of Bluffton, died at 10:37 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Lutheran Hospital. Mr. Elliott was born in St. Louis on Oct. 24, 1923 to Joseph A. and Virginia L. (Bibb) Elliott. He married Barbara J. Huffman in Wells County on June 13, 1949; she survives. From 1943 to 1946, Mr. Elliott served in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Indiana University in 1949 with a major in chemistry. He worked at W.S. Shamban Company in Fort Wayne for 10 years, retiring in 1989. He also worked for Incel Company in Bluffton, W.S. Merrill in Cincinnati, Max Factor in California and Bristol Myers in St. Louis. He was an avid quail and pheasant hunter and enjoyed fishing. He also raised and trained English setters for over 20 years. Other surviving relatives include one son, Michael (Amy Lesemann) Elliott of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and two grandchildren, Alice and Caroline Elliott. He was the last surviving member of his family. In accordance with Mr. Elliott's wishes, his body will be donated to the Indiana University Anatomical Donation Program. Burial will be at Six Mile Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Wells County Historical Society. Graveside services will held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Six Mile Cemetery, Bluffton. Dr. Bryson E. Bell will officate the services.
