Robert Lee Bays, 71, of Bluffton, died Friday morning, June 14, 2013, at his son's residence. He was born May 10, 1942, in Corbin, Ky., to Clem and Minnie Brooks Bays. He married Jean Howard in Cincinnati in 1959; she survives. Robert loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and playing the lottery. Robert was a retired machinist with Ft. Recovery Industries in Ft. Recovery, Ohio. Additional survivors include a daughter, Lana (Wayne) Rice of West Alexandria, Ohio; a son, Jeffrey (Lisa) Bays of Bluffton; a sister, Ruth (Ray) Houck of FortRecovery, Ohio; a brother, Raymond (Jean) Bays of Eminence, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by a son, Steven Bays, who died July 10, 1983. A service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel, 3220 E. Ind. 124, Bluffton, with Pastor Adam Carroll officiating. Calling hours are from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date.
