Rita Marlene Chandler, 72, of Bluffton, passed away at 10:29 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2010, at her residence. Mrs. Chandler was born in Richmond, IN, on August 28, 1938, to Rev. Eston and Emma (Englebert) Poling. She married William C. Chandler in Bluffton on September 25, 1959, he survives. Mrs. Chandler graduated from Bluffton High School in 1957. Upon graduation, she worked several years for the S.S. Kresge in Fort Wayne. She worked several years for Eleys and the latter years for Main & Market and Investments & Insurance up to her illness four weeks ago. She attended Faith Chapel United Pentecostal Church in Decatur. Rita was an avid scrapbooker, loved making baskets, and enjoyed sewing. Surviving relatives in addition to her husband, include a son, Nathan Alan (Elizabeth) Chandler of Grand Rapids, MI, and a daughter, Vickie Marlene (Tim) Triplett of Noblesville, IN, five grandchildren; Ryan, Hannah, Conner, Makayla, and Eli; two brothers, Rev. Eston E. (Loretta)Poling of Greensburg, IN, and Rev. James L. (Delores) Poling of Bluffton; three sisters, Irene L. Poling, Martha A. Poling, and Marcia J. (Elmer) Pate, all of Bluffton. Rita was preceded in death by a son, Alan Scot Chandler, along with a grandson, Evan Luke Triplett. Calling hours will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Monday, September 20, 2010, at Goodwin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at Goodwin Memorial Chapel, with additional calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Bruce Bush, Rev. Eston E. Poling Jr. , and Rev. James L. Poling will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Six Mile Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the St. Vincent Foundation or Family Hospice & Palliative Care.
