Richard K. Edington, 89, of Bluffton, passed away Friday evening, August 28, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born in Bluffton, IN on March 14, 1931 to George Franklin Edington and Wilda D. (Lydy), both parents preceded him in death. Richard graduated from Bluffton H.S. in 1949. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a 66 year member of the American Legion Post 111 in Bluffton.
Richard married Connie S. (Pursley) in Bluffton, IN on May 18, 1957, she survives in Bluffton. He worked as an Industrial Electrician for General Electric in Ft. Wayne, Retiring from Franklin Electric in 1996. He was a licensed insurance agent and sold real estate for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Richard "Cole" (Angie) Edington of Bluffton and Lisa E. (Jeff) Adams of Reiffsburg, IN., three, half - brothers; David (Sandy) Edington of Rowlett, TX, John (Robin) Edington of Burleson, TX and Kent Edington of Chandler, AZ.; a step-brother, Larry Dunning of Ft. Wayne, IN., five grandchildren and eight grt .grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three, half – brothers; Tim, Ted and Mike Fuller.
Richard enjoyed fishing, traveling with his wife, spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was known for his "Pinochle" card playing and his H.S. football day's when he was the Quarterback for Bluffton.
The family will receive visitor's on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM at the funeral home with Barry Crosbie officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton. Burial will take place at Six Mile Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton or Visiting Nurse and Hospice.
