Richard E. Barger, 80, of Craigville, passed away at 10:35 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at Ossian Health Care. Richard was born Aug. 1, 1933, in Wells County to Orville Barger and Edith C. Bauman. He married Marjorie M. Bower Wine July 24, 1978, in Bluffton; she survives. They had 37 years together. He attended Lancaster High School and Sonlight Wesleyan Church. He was a farmer and worked at Wayne Metal Co. for 26 years. He loved IU basketball, western movies, new gospel music and was an avid Norwell fan. He loved Marjorie's cherry pies. He also enjoye=d his trip to Branson, Mo., and Nashville. Additional survivors include two sons, Jeff L. Barger of Decatur, and Richie E. Barger Jr. of Decatur; step children Sherry L. (Fred) James of Huntington, Teri (Rick) Wilson of Gainesville, Fla., and Kerrie (Steve) Johnson of Redkey; siblings, Virgean Bowers of Decatur and Mildred Riley of Monroe; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Scottie A. Barger; a daughter, June E. Barger; and siblings Marcella Gerber, Wilma Funk, Phyllis Reinhart and Helen Thieme. Services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at Sonlight Wesleylan Church with Lyle Breeding officiating. Calling hours are from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Six Mile Cemetery in Bluffton.
