Rex N. Coffield, 89, of Bluffton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at Christian Care Retirement
Community. Rex was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Bluffton to Clyde Coffield and Emma Fryback Coffield. He married Mary B. Powell Coffield April 18, 1948, at the Bluffton First Reformed Church.
He was a truck driver for Renners' Express for 24 years, retiring in 1985. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 as a paratrooper. He was a member of the American Legion Post 111 and the VFW Post 2809, and The First Reformed Church in Bluffton, IN.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Philip R. LuAnn Coffield of Bradley, Ill.; a grandson, Nathan (Sarah) Coffield of Columbus, Ohio; a greatgranddaughter, Charlotte Birdella Coffield; and a brother, Ronald Coffield of Bluffton. He was preceded in death by his parents a sister, Betty Sawyer.
A service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6 at the Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel with Dr. Bryson G. Bell officiating.
Calling hours are from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery. The United States Army, along with the American Legion Post 111, will conduct military graveside rites.
