Randy L. Wilson, 50, of Bryant, died at 12:23 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012, in Raleigh, N.C. He was born on March 8, 1962, in Wells County to Robert L. and Bessie L. (Vanover) Wilson. A 1980 graduate of Southern Wells High School, Mr. Wilson served in the U.S. Navy from 1980 to 1988. He served on the U.S.S. Hunley (submarine tender) and the U.S.S. Forrestal (aircraft carrier). He was a nuclear classified seaman in the military. He was a self-employed carpenter working with Clean Fuels of Indiana. He loved woodworking. Surviving relatives include his mother of Quincy, Mich.; four brothers, Scott A. (Carla) Wilson of Quincy, Mich., Robert D. (Sue) Wilson of Liberty, Larry L. Wilson of Australia and Jeffrie K. (Michelle) Wilson of Phoenix, N.Y..; two sisters, Paula Yokum of Tok, Alaska, and Carole (William) Baumbauer of Liberty. Also surviving is his companion German Shepherd, Chaos. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his father. Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 18, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at the funeral home with Pastor Wilbur Taylor officiating. Burial is at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Pennville. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the U.S. Navy and the American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton. Preferred memorials are to the Union Chapel Church of the Nazarene.
