Phyllis A. Dotterer, 85, Bluffton, passed away at 5:22 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014 at Christian Care Retirement Community. Born May 25, 1929 in Adams County to Joseph E. and Sophia (Isch) Gerber, she married Paul E. Dotterer on Oct. 22, 1950, in Bluffton; he preceded her in death Oct. 16, 2010. A 1947 graduate of Bluffton High School, she worked for the Bluffton-Harrison M.S.D. for 55 years, many of them as a secretary. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Survivors include three daughters, Kathy (Gordon) Gerber of Bluffton, Susan (Douglas) Dailey of Bluffton and Sally Dotterer of Indianapolis; a son, Jeffrey (Lynn) Dotterer of Bluffton; a sister-in-law, Justine Gerber of Bluffton; six grandchildren, Stefanie (Derrick) Kipfer, Ben (Jackie) Dailey, Kevin (Audrey) Dailey, Karyn Gerber, Sonya Gerber and Brian Dotterer; and six great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald G. Gerber. Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church East with John Reinhard and Ron Kipfer officiating. Calling hours are Wednesday from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel, Bluffton and Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Preferred memorials are to Christian Care Retirement Community.
