Paul E. Thomas, 70, of Bluffton, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017, at his home.
He was born Feb. 11, 1947, in Elwood, to Charles E. and Carolyn Rose McElfresh Thomas. He married Susan K. Archbold on Oct. 28, 1982, in Bluffton; she survives.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-68 and retired from Kitco in 2002 after 33 years in the maintenance department. He enjoyed traveling, flea markets, loved collecting antiques, collecting items from the Civil War and learning about war history.
He is survived by sons Aaron Lee Thomas of Los Angeles, Calif., and Christopher A. Lawhorn of Bluffton; and five brothers, John (Sandra) Thomas of Eaton, Michael R. Thomas of Jacksonville, FL.., Frank L. Thomas of Richmond, Va., Thomas K. Thomas of Springfield, Ill., and Patrick A. Thomas of Upland, and three sisters, Carol (Dave) Marsh of Ft. Wayne, IN, Cheryl Edmonson of Ft. Wayne, IN and Janet K. Roberts of Marion, IN. He was preceded in death by siblings Karen Sue Dodds and Stephen G. Thomas.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, with military honors by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and Bluffton American Legion Post 111.
Steve Schlatter will officiate.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Lancaster Cemetery in Huntington County.
