Paul V. Stanton, 79, of Bluffton, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014, at River Terrace Estates in Bluffton. Paul was born Dec. 3, 1934, in Dunkirk to Cedric and Viola Wright Stanton. He married Sharon C. Bosworth Dec. 27, 1953, in Bluff Point; she preceded him in death March 3, 2014. Paul is a 1953 graduate of Jefferson High School in Deerfield. Paul worked at Anchor Hocking in Winchester for 15 years, Norris Feed Mill in Poneto and The Andersons for 27 years, and was a truck driver at Same Day in Bluffton for five years. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Bluffton, where he was a board member, and was a member of the Poneto Lions Club. Paul was a Sunday school teacher for years. He loved cutting wood, playing ping pong and playing his harmonica. He was an Indiana University basketball fan and loved his God, wife and family. Survivors include two sons, Ed (Linda) Stanton of Liberty Center and David (Sheila) Stanton of Geneva; five daughters, Debbie Gregg of Geneva, Carol Stanton of Bluffton, Paula (Fred) Hunnicutt of Bluffton, Susan (Jim) Lloyd of Fort Wayne, and Karen (Robert) Kelly of Bluffton; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. The last of his family, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin, Dana and Richard Stanton; and two sisters, Betty Mesorano and Claribel Elzey. He was also preceded in death by one grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 11, at the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Tim Miller officiating. Calling hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 10, and preceding the service at 9 a.m., both at the church. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery.
