Paul I. Sell, 87, of rural Bluffton, passed away Monday morning, Feb. 3, 2014, at Ashford Place Rehabilitation in Shelbyville. Paul was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Rockford, Ohio, to Samuel O. and Zelma Boice Sell. He married Elizabeth Kelly Sell Sept. 28, 1952, in Allen County; she preceded him in death June 8, 2007. Paul graduated from Rockford High School in 1944. He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 and piloted a torpedo bomber. He was a life insurance salesperson for 50 years and a National Weather Service meteorologist for 45 years. He was a member of Murray Missionary Church. Survivors include two sons, Don (Kelly) Sell of Fort Wayne and David (Valorie) Sell of Shelbyville, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Charles Robert and Lowell Sell; and two sisters, Wanna Sell and Ruth Smith. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Murray Missionary Church with Pastor Mike Gilbert officiating. Calling hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at the church. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Ossian. American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton, along with the Navy Honor Guard, will conduct the military rites at the cemetery.
