Paul E. Dotterer, 84, of Bluffton, died at 5:32 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Mr. Dotterer served as the director of the Wells County Area Plan Commission for approximately 20 years. He was also a school bus driver for the Bluffton-Harrison Metropolitan School District for many years. He also was the owner of Dotterer and Son Feed Mill in Bluffton. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II, receiving a Bronze Star as a combat medic in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Dotterer was born May 15, 1926, in Bluffton, to Henry G. Dotterer and Mary Reineck Dotterer. He married Phyllis Gerber Oct. 22, 1950; his wife survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Kathy (Gordon) Gerber of East Peoria, Ill., Susan (Doug) Dailey of Bluffton, and Sally Dotterer of Indianapolis; a son, Jeffrey (Lynn) Dotterer of Bluffton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Caroline Lantz of Bluffton and Marjorie (Earl) Stucky of Berne. In addition to his parents, a brother, Joe Dotterer, preceded him in death. Calling will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, and from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. There will be additional calling from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Bluffton North Apostolic Christian Church. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the North Apostolic Christian Church with Nile Bucher and Steve Ringger officiating. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Christian Care Retirement Community.
