Nile A. Sharpe, 74, of Keystone, died at 1 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Mr. Sharpe was born in Blackford County on Jan. 11, 1935 to Nile and Erma (Roberts) Sharpe. He married Althea "Joan" Rathburn in Decatur on July 27, 1973; she survives. Mr. Sharpe worked as a machinist at Dana Corp. for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed playing golf at Hickory Hills. Other surviving relatives include three sons, David (Dana) Sharpe of Montpelier, Michael Brickley of Bluffton and Donald Gardner of Warren; two daughters, Cindy Roth of Hartford City and Yvonne Watson of Rushville; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Mr. Sharpe was also preceded in death by two sons, Dale and David Gardner; two brothers, Jack and Rollie Sharpe; and one sister, Donna Lautzenheiser. Calling hours will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home with Pastor Marlene M. Ellis officiating. Preferred memorials are to the Family Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeast Indiana.
