Nellie Marie Harris, 104, of Bluffton, passed away Thursday morning, November 22, 2012, at Christian Care Retirement Community. Born on February 6, 1908, in Uniondale, IN, to Harley and Lulu M. (Nickelson) Haiflich, Nellie first married Ross E. Fahl in Uniondale, on May 17, 1930. Together they had one child, a son, Kenneth Fahl. On October 16, 1937, she later marrried Wilbur "Dick" Harris, in Bluffton; he preceded her in death on February 14, 1992. Mrs. Harris was a 1926 graduate of Rockcreek High School and held various jobs until her retirement, in which she had spent 20 years as a postal clerk. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Bluffton. Survivors include her son, Kenneth (Marietta) Fahl of Tucson, AZ; two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren. Alongside her parents and husband, Nellie was preceded in death by two brothers, Herschel and George Haiflich; two sisters, Lolitta Alexander and Elvira Hunter; and one grandchild. Visitation will be Monday, January 7, 2013, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., at Goodwin - Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel. Services will be Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at 10:00 A.M., at the First Reformed Church in Bluffton, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Dr. Bryson E. Bell will be officiating. A private burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ossian. Memorial contributions may be given to The Gideons International.
