Monica M. Murphy, 53, of Poneto, passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 9, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne.
Monica was born in Bluffton on Feb. 22, 1965, to Bill and Mary (Killingbeck) Ginger. She married Steve Murphy in Jay County on June 28, 1985; he survives.
A 1983 graduate of Southern Wells High School, Monica worked at K-mart in Bluffton and then Decatur, for 30 years, serving in many roles, from cashier to store manager. She loved to read and spend time with her family, but most of all, enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.
In addition to her husband, Monica is survived by a daughter, Holly Dollar of Poneto; six grandchildren, Emily and Drew Steffen, and Alden, Ryker, Jase, and Nolan Dollar; three sisters, Melanie (Mark) Mills of Decatur, Jody (Phillip) Lay of Yellville, Ark., and Lisa Bailey of Bluffton; two brothers, Billy Ginger of Bluffton and Doug (Lori) Ginger of Keystone; along with 34 nieces and nephews.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Chris "Taco" Killingbeck.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 13 th , at 10:30 AM, at the funeral home, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Pastor Alan Crull will officiate. Burial will follow at Stahl Cemetery in Wells County.
Memorial contributions in Monica's memory may be made to Phillip's House, Inc., a non-profit residential transitional housing project, founded in memory of her nephew, Phillip Rice.
