Milburn Miller, 87, of Bluffton, died at 6:30 p.m. Friday,Oct. 7, 2011, at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Mr. Miller was a coal miner in Kentucky for eight years and was employed at Sterling Casting in Bluffton for 23 years,retiring in 1975. He served as the president of the union at Sterling Casting. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Bluffton. He was a lifelong bowler in Bluffton leagues and also enjoyed fishing. Mr. Miller was born March 13, 1924, in Leslie County, Ky., to Albert Miller and Odra Shepherd Miller. He married Liza Hurt Oct. 24, 1944, in Pigeon Roost, Ky. His wife survives. Also surviving are two sons, Bill (Gloria) Miller of Bluffton and Bob (Carissa) Miller of Fort Wayne; three daughters, Pat (Dave) Piety of Bluffton, Jackie Harris of Bluffton, and Mildred "Tooter" (Stuart) Studebaker of Sidney, Ohio; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Doshie Crowder, Ruth White, and Janice Carter; and two brothers, Doug Farler and Arnold Farler. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchildren, Elizabeth Miller in 1995; four brothers, Herman Farler, DonaldFarler, Paul Farler, and Basil Combs; and a sister, Lola Miller Turner. Calling will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, with Jason Studebaker officiating. Burial will be at the Elm Grove Cemetery.
