Obituary

Michael D. "Mike" Herring, age 70, of Keystone, passed away Thursday evening, July 11, 2019.

Mike was born in Hartford City on Aug. 17, 1948, to Robert E. and Beverly J. (Briles) Herring, his father survives in Upland.  He married Carol S. Tucker in Wells County at the Chester Center Church on Nov. 22, 1969; she survives.

A 1967 graduate of Eastbrook High School, Mike served in the United States Air Force from 1968 until 1972 during the Vietnam War.  He then went to work at Franklin Electric in 1972 and retired from Bluffton Motor Works in 2016.

A member of Chapel Grove Church, Mike enjoyed woodworking and attending his grandchildren's sporting and 4-H events.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his 13 grandchildren.  He was a IU basketball and Chicago Bears fan and will be remembered by everyone for his great sense of humor and his outgoing personality who never knew a stranger.

Mike loved the Lord with all his heart and shared God's love with everyone he came into contact with. His goal was to be home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In addition to his father and wife, Mike is survived by two daughters, Christina (Chad) Yencer of Poneto, Shawna (Craig) Neuenschwander of Liberty Center; two sons, Daniel (Mandi) Herring of Decatur, and Philip (Victoria) Herring of Marion; 13 grandchildren, Meghan, Jessica, and Jadyn Yencer, Madison, Payton, and Gavin Herring, Cheyenne, Aubree, Noah, Avery, and Ada Neuenschwander, and Logan and Nolan Herring; a sister, Susan (Bob) Southworth of Florida; a brother, David (Cheryl) Herring of Hamilton, OH; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 16, 2019, from 1:00 until 8:00 PM, at the Bluffton Church of the Nazarene.  Services will be Wednesday, July 17 th , at 10:30 AM, also at the church, with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.  Jody Mounsey and Daniel Herring will officiate.  Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post 111 in conjunction with the United States Air Force honor guard.

Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
