Melvin M. Maller, 94, of Bluffton, died at his residence at 3:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2011. Mr. Maller was a lifelong farmer in Adams and Wells counties. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. He was born Jan. 29, 1917, in Adams County, to Joel N. Maller and Ida M. Gilliom Maller. He married Berniece V. Heyerly in Bluffton Nov. 5, 1939; his wife preceded him in death Aug. 29, 2005. Survivors include two daughters, Carol Maller and Janice Reinhard, both of Bluffton; four grandchildren, Justin Reinhard, Grayson Reinhard, Braden Reinhard, and Jessica Fiechter; eight great-grandchildren, Madalyn Reinhard, Haleigh Reinhard, Gage Reinhard, Easton Reinhard, Lexie Fiechter, Briggs Fiechter, Blake Reinhard, and Kyla Reinhard; and a sister, Vera Laukhuf of Paulding, Ohio. In addition to his wife and his parents, Mr. Maller was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Heyerly and Naomi Kaehr, and a brother, Robert Maller. Calling will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel. There will also be calling from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Apostolic Christian Church East. Services will be held at the Apostolic Christian Church East at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with Doyle Frauhiger and Mark Gerber officiating. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Apostolic Christian Church in Bluffton and to Summit Home Health Care in Fort Wayne. The Goodwin Memorial Chapel, 3320 E. Ind. 124, Bluffton, is in charge of arrangements.
