Max R. Dawson, 76, Bluffton, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at his residence. He was born Aug. 22, 1938, in Huntington County to Ira Glen and Goldie Madeline Weaver Dawson. Max married Jacqueline M. "Jackie" Strode in Warren Aug. 19, 1961; she survives. He graduated from Jackson Township High School in 1956 and served in the National Guard from 1959 to 1963. He was a member of the Hope Missionary Church in Bluffton and the Scottsdale Bible Church in Scottsdale, Ariz., as well as the Wells County Pilot Association. Max worked for the Bluffton Police Department for 23 years as a dispatcher and computer specialist, retiring in 2008. He was also the owner of Dawson Concessions for 20 years. He enjoyed coin collecting, boating and going to the lakes, and woodworking. He was active with the Wells County Amateur Radio Club for many years. He enjoyed traveling to Scottsdale, Ariz., and spending the winters. He was always there for his family and friends. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly L. "Bev" (Brian) Huffman of Liberty Center, and three grandchildren, Tyler (Brittany) Shaffer, Brett Huffman and Andrea (Cody) Scheerer. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel with Bruce Holland officiating. Calling hours are from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to the service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Family LifeCare of Berne.
