Max D. Baublet, 74, of Poneto, passed away Thursday evening, September 23, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital following an extended illness.
Max was born in Wabash, IN., on August 5, 1947, to Carl E. and Lura M. (Comstock) Baublet. Both parents preceded him in death.
He graduated from Bluffton High School in 1967. Following graduation, Max joined the United States Marine Corp. He served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. Max was enlisted from 1967 to 1970. He worked as a welder and fork truck driver for Metaldyne in Bluffton, retiring in 2010. Max was a member of the American Legion Post 111 in Bluffton and the local VFW.
Max enjoyed tractor pulls in Ft. Recovery, Ohio, was an avid gun collector and enjoyed shooting all types of guns. Max was a familiar face most mornings at the Corner Depot for breakfast.
He is survived by his two children; Thomas L. Baublet of Huntington and Kayelynn N. (Ethan Reynolds) of Ft. Wayne, two stepchildren; Stacey Turner of Bluffton and Kevin Turner of Indianapolis, IN., a sister-in-law; Billie M. Baublet of Poneto, IN., and eight grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter; Angela Marie Baublet, a stepdaughter; Hope Turner, a brother; Edwin C. Baublet, and a sister; Barbara Sue Soupher.
Per Max's request, there are no public services being held. Private interment will be held at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, IN.
