Mary E. Fiechter, 76, rural Berne, went to be with her Lord at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011. She passed away at her residence, surrounded by her family. Born on August 31, 1934 in Milford to Theo and Naoma (Speheger) Beer, she married Carl H. Fiechter on February 19, 1955 in Milford; he survives. She was a homemaker and mother, and helped with the operation of the family farm. She was a 1952 graduate of Milford High School and a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Mary was a very loving and caring Christian lady who shared these gifts with her family and many friends. Other survivors include four sons, Don (Suzie) Fiechter of Keystone, Rick (Beth) Fiechter of Montpelier, Jim (Jenny) Fiechter of Bluffton, and Lynn (Ronda) Fiechter of Keystone; a daughter, Ann (Kris) Frauhiger of Montpelier; two brothers, Phillip (Lisa) Beer of Milford and Bernie (Peg) Beer of Nappanee; three sisters, Marguerite (Bob) Hoerr of New Buffalo, Mich., Miriam (Lewis) Speicher and Rebecca (Pete) Doll, both of Milford; a sister- in-law, Dorothy Beer of Lake Forest, Ill.; 32 grandchildren; and 28 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Alan Beer; and a granddaughter, Stacy Fiechter in 2001. Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church East with John Reinhard and Lynn Fiechter officiating. Calling hours are Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton; and also for one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Memorials are to the donor's choice. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
