Mary M. Brown, 92, of Erie, Penn., went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at 3:50 p.m. at Christian Care Retirement Community. She was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Washington, Penn., to Bessie Tarr Shepherd and Harry Shepherd. She married John G. Brown Aug. 9, 1941, in Erie, Penn.; he preceded her in death Oct. 13, 2005. Mary graduated from Strong Vincent High School, Erie, Penn., in 1940. She worked with her husband John in the family dry cleaning business, "Washington Cleaners," in Erie, Penn., for many years. She was very active in her church, First Alliance Church in Erie, Penn., and taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. Survivors include a son, Dr. David (Sue) Brown of Bluffton; a daughter, Connie (Darrell) Longenberger of Emmaus, Penn.; five grandchildren, Missy Brown, Rebekah Hubley, Jennifer Borgwardt, Matt Longenberger and Andy Longenberger; 10 great-grandchildren, Miranda Borgwardt, Darci Borgwardt, Joshua Longenberger, Isabella Longenberger, Julia Longenberger, Jack Longenberger, Hannah Hubley, Micah Hubley, Luca Hubley and Jonas Hubley. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home in Erie, Penn. Calling hours are from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at the funeral home. Local arrangements are being handled by Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Memorials may be made to Great Commission Fund at First Alliance Church.
