Martha L. Milholland, 74, of Bluffton, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at I.U. Medical Center in Indianapolis. Mrs. Milholland was born on June 8, 1937, in Bloomington, to Clinton L. and Mary E. (Vilaire) Hawkins Sr. She married Richard P. Milholland on Nov. 27, 1974, in Speedway; he survives. Mrs. Milholland was the salutatorian of the Speedway High School class of 1955. She was a homemaker, and taught motivational training and public relations, retiring in 2005. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bluffton. She was a volunteer at Wells County Creative Arts, and the women's fellowship group at her church. She chaired the Happy Hour committee and for 17 years serve as Hamilton Lake Ski Club Co-ordinator. She was an avid painter. She enjoyed all forms of racing and loved playing golf, and enjoyed entertaining with theme parties. Surviving relatives include her mother, of Speedway; two sons, Bill (Kenna) Allison of Speedway and Kenny (Traci) Allison of Cumming, Ga.; four step-children, Greg (Debbie) Milholland of Bluffton, Perry Milholland of Ossian, Tammy Schaffer of Bluffton and Tonia (Matt) Huffman of Tocsin, two brothers, Ed (Chris) Hawkins of Speedway and Clinton (Norma) Hawkins Jr. of Gainesville, Ga.; one sister, Doris (Rick) Wacker of Trafalgar; and 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Milholland was preceded in death by her father. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, and from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 1, at the First Presbyterian Church in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at noon Thursday, at the church with the Rev. Robert Madsen officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, in Bluffton. Preferred memorials are to The Creative Arts Council of Wells County, the church or Lion's Cancer Control Fund of Indiana.
